Its name comes from its beautiful red brew, this oolong, whose fermentation is long, is distinguishable from others oolongs, because off its strong fruity scents.
Much full-bodied than others traditional oolongs, we do love its roundness in the mouth, as well as its red berries and cocoa flavours.
It comes from the Mae Salong Nok plantation in the North of the country, near the Burmese boundary, in the famous "Golden Triangle". At an altitude of 1500m, it's one of the plantations protected by the "Royal Project Foundation".
The "Royal Project Foundation", non-profit organisation, has been created in 1970 by His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej, King of Thailand.
The objectives of this organisation are to fight against deforestation, the opium production, and the poverty, by integrating socially and economically the exiled tribes from Laos, Burma and China, settled in the mountains in Northern Thailand.
